The ShoreTel & Mitel Merger: What You Need to Know

ShoreTel and Mitel have a prospective merger in the works, with Mitel potentially acquiring ShoreTel. The process is underway at this time, but Copper State Communications still expects to support ShoreTel systems and investments for many years to come. We don’t anticipate any significant changes to our ability to supply and support the ShoreTel platform and anticipate it to be business as usual going forward. We will, of course, navigate any issues that come up, but we expect to support ShoreTel systems well into the future.

Key Points on the Merger

Here are a few important elements of the merger to be aware of:

  • Both Mitel and ShoreTel are public companies, and are subject to the usual and various reviews and approvals by regulators and others in order to merge their operations.
  • More than 40,000 entities around the world deploy and depend on ShoreTel systems.
  • There are more than 5,000,000 ShoreTel telephones installed globally.
  • Mitel has acquired a number of other companies in the last few years, including Intertel, Oasys, Aastra, Toshiba, and others.

Just the Facts

At this time, there aren’t a lot of facts regarding the prospective merger. There are, however, many “experts” offering their opinions on it. Everything is speculative at this time. Copper State Communications will continue to support ShoreTel solutions for many years to come. Now is not the time to replace a perfectly functional ShoreTel system.

We all know change is the only real constant, and the tech industry is among the most “vibrant” change agents among us. The potential merger has our full attention. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
